Brazilian Beaches Part 2: Ilha Grande

A Brit, A Gringo and an Aussie... Drinkin Games in Ilha Grande...
Welcome to Ilha Grande, a tropical paradise half way between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo... I had a few extra days and I wanted to visit this little gem of an island, located an hour ferry ride away from Angra dos Reis and about 3 hours away.

How to get to Ilha Grande from the International airport using public transportation?
Easy, first take the Airport shuttle bus to the main bus station, this should cost about R$5 and take less than 45 minutes. The (Rodoviaria Novo Rio) Central Bus Station is the main bus station in Rio, take an Empresa Costa Verde headed towards  Angra dos Reis.
The bus will leave you near the port, once you are there, walk to the port and look for the next boat heading towards Ilha Grande, after an hour boat ride and some 3 hours on this bus you will reach Ilha Grande. on the way back I took an express service that got me back to Rio in under 3 hours using a combination of ferry and cars. They drop you off in a city loser to llha Grande  and then transfer you to a mini-bus/car and quickly speed towards Rio...

Simple idea... like most hostels, this place has a pretty crappy sewer system... but the Portu-english is really funny...
Nice little city and even the police tried to be nice

not sure if I want to visit the local Police/Head Couters (Head Cutters?/Headquarters?)
II did a two hour trek across the island, and even if it was rainy and the weather wasn't really the best... I found this little piece of beach heaven with some of the best waves I've ever seen...
See no evil, hear no evil, say no evil???
Out of this world beach...
Since it was Carnaval week, prices were sky-high but my hostel was nice cozy and most importantly, it had a hammock!! The local Che Lagarto was fully booked , but I did crash the place to party , they were packed every night and were one of the main social scenes on the island...

Hammock Time!
